Our Purpose

Why this federation exists

Francophone African organizations in Calgary are active, committed, and deeply impactful within their communities. However, many have traditionally operated independently, limiting coordination, shared visibility, and collective influence. This fragmentation can reduce access to opportunities and challenge long-term sustainability.

“True progress happens when communities move beyond working in isolation and come together with a shared vision, a unified voice, and a commitment to lasting impact.”

What FAFC Does

Three pillars that drive everything we do as a federation.

Coordinate

We align organizations to strengthen collaboration, reduce duplication, and increase collective impact across the community.

Represent

We provide a structured and credible voice for African francophone communities in conversations with institutions, partners, and stakeholders.

Strengthen

We support organizations through access to resources, partnerships, and capacity-building opportunities for long-term growth.

02

A large-scale cultural platform that brings together communities to showcase heritage, strengthen identity, and create meaningful engagement with the broader public.

03

Leadership & Governance Development

Workshops and support systems designed to strengthen leadership capacity, governance practices, and organizational sustainability.

04

Community Representation & Advocacy

Structured engagement with institutions to ensure African francophone communities are visible, heard, and considered in decision-making spaces.

05

Funding Access & Capacity Support

Support for member organizations to access grants, partnerships, and funding opportunities that enable long-term growth and sustainability across the federation.
